about

This is a track that i co-wrote with Kris Drever, way back when he and i were in the same band, The Lapels, in Orkney.

lyrics

Words issue from my mouth
And make me think about
The things that i can't say today
Tea with milk and sugar please
Serve it up with cheese
And eat it with a piece of toast

What's the name you always notice?
Standing in the wind and singing
Where's the thing you once were proud of?
I can hear the distance ringing true

Think about what you have done
Avoiding all the sun
And standing in the rain with me
Whats the thing that you fear most?
Is it still the ghost
Of things that never quite were true?

What's the name you always notice?
Standing in the wind and singing
Where's the thing you once were proud of?
I can hear the distance ringing true

Long, drawn out
Sing or shout
Think of who
Who are you?

Now the rain has gone away
But only for today
Tomorrow could bring anything
Please stay right here with me
I just want to see
If you would help me when i sing

from Another Side, track released 01 January 2010
Kris Drever wrote the guitar part for this and I wrote the lyrics and the melody. I also added verse three and changed the melody and accompaniment for the middle section at a later time, and that's how the song is presented here.
